Before we dive into those steps, let’s first look at some reasons why channels might go missing.

Why does the GoTv Decoder lose some channels

Here are some reasons why certain channels might suddenly disappear. Keep these important points in mind before you rescan your GoTv Decoder.

  • Signal Problems: A weak signal is a common reason for missing channels. This often happens if the decoder is not installed correctly. If you believe it is installed properly, check for any obstructions like trees or buildings that might block the signal.
  • Decoder Problems: Even with a strong signal, there could be an issue with the GoTv decoder itself. Inspect it carefully for any hardware or software problems.
  • Subscription Problems: Not all channels come with every package. Verify your subscription package at the GoTv Self-service center. Popular packages include GoTv Smallie and GoTv Max; check their channel lists to see if they fit your needs.
  • Rescanning: Sometimes, simply rescanning your decoder can help you recover lost channels.

Hint: To check the signal strength, press the MENU button on your remote. Then go to Advanced options and select Signal Information. The signal strength needs to be a minimum of 70%. If it is lower, the signal is weak. Try moving the antenna to improve it.
